Just wondering...What's the difference between breakfast sausage, pasta sausage, and pizza sausage?
Pizza and pasta sausage are both itialian sausage....which is spiced up with italian herbs and spices, like fennel and basil for sweeter sausage.
Breakfast sausage is more simple...pepper and sage are the main spices. Sometimes maple flavoring is added.
Both are spiced up sometimes with red pepper flakes or cayenne.
Sage is the dominating flavor in most breakfast sausages and fennel is the dominating spice in most Italian sweet sausages with fennel and red pepper being in italian hot sausage.
In terms of the difference between pasta and pizza sausage, that depends on the pizza parlor. Most near me use Italian sweet sausage for both pasta and pizza. Where I grew up in upstate NY, pizza was made with Italian hot sausageWhat's the difference between breakfast sausage, pasta sausage, and pizza sausage?
